Youth Empowerment Support Convenes 1st Meeting of Tibetan Vocational Centres.

DHARAMSHALA: The Youth Empowerment Support of Department of Home, CTA convened the first ever meeting of Tibetan vocational centres titled, ‘Workforce Development Meeting’ today at Gangchen Kyishong.

Representatives of over dozen educational and vocational training centres across India and Nepal have converged at the meeting to discuss strategic collaboration across the various programs to enhance training and employment opportunities for youth.

In his inaugural address, Chief guest, Kalon Sonam Topgyal Kholatsang, Department of Home said its latest undertaking was inspired and grounded on CTA’s Five Fifty Vision which calls for sustaining and strengthening the resilience of the Tibetan people, the Tibetan freedom struggle, and Tibetan culture and identity.

He remarked that each training institution has been doing a remarkable work in providing various services in the community.

“However it is high time that we focus on quality and relevant vocational education and training for youth. In order to equip them with the knowledge, skills and competencies required for the jobs of today or tomorrow,” Kalon said.

The inaugural ceremony was also presided over by Secretary Chhemi Rigzen and Additional Secretary Tsewang Dolma, Department of Home.

In her remarks, Additional Secretary Tsewang Dolma explained that the purpose of the meeting is to forge a partnership across the various training sectors in our exile community from both Governmental and Non-governmental organisations to upgrade facilities, training and exposure for the beneficiaries.

“We need to integrate about what has been done till now and what is needed to be changed for the future and provide essential opportunities for the younger generation as they are the future fruits of our nation,” she said. The meeting will conclude on 12 May.

Educational and vocational training centres participating in the meeting are Institute for Small Trade Learning (ISTL) Bangalore, Tibetan Career Centre (TCC), Tibetan Entrepreneurship Development cell, Department of Finance, CTA, Sherab Gatsel Lobling, Mundgod Doeguling Tibetan Cooperative Society, Dekyi Larsoe Tibetan Cooperative Society, Tibetan Handicraft Production cum Sale Cooperative Ind. Society, Miao Tibetan Cooperative Society, Dekyiling Handicraft, ITI TCV, Dehradun, Tibetan Homes Foundation, Mussoorie, SOS VTC Pokhra, Nepal, Empowering The Vision, ENVISION and Tibetan Women Centre, Rajpur.
